Light Rail System Map
Light rail has proven to be an excellent mode of transportation for NJ residents and throughout our nation. Light rail is a clean, efficient, and speedy way to commute locally or to make local connections to major terminals and service. NJ TRANSIT presently operates two light rail systems in the northern New Jersey area and one in the southern part of the state.

* Hudson-Bergen Light Rail has won national recognition and awards as an innovative public-private partnership that led to the development of an excellent transportation system. The system now offers frequent and convenient service from both North and South Hudson County into the downtown Jersey City waterfront and Hoboken. Light rail trains provide mobility for area residents and employees, operating through Bayonne, Jersey City, Hoboken, Weehawken, Union City, West New York and North Bergen. The line serves major transportation, business and shopping centers including Exchange Place, Newport Centre and Hoboken. Use the Hudson Bergen line to connect with other transit alternatives like NJ TRANSIT buses and trains, the NY Waterway ferry, and PATH trains to New York City. * The Newark Light Rail is a vital link in the region's transportation network, and brings residents in north Newark and Newark's outer suburbs to educational and cultural destinations in New Jersey's largest city. This system introduced a new fleet of light rail vehicles and new stations in Belleville and Bloomfield in 2001. In 2006, new stations were opened in the Downtown as part of a service connection between Newark Penn Station, the major transportation terminal in the state, and Broad Street Station. The system connects with NJ TRANSIT bus and rail service as well as AMTRAK trains and PATH. To view Newark Light Rail system map click here. To visit the Newark Light Rail website, click here.

* River LINE is a 34-mile passenger light rail line, which links Trenton with Camden. With 20 station stops serving communities along the Delaware River's Route 130 corridor, the light rail system connects riders to the larger transportation networks of NJ TRANSIT, Amtrak, PATCO, and SEPTA.
