He’s back: Sandy Berger now advising Hillary Clinton

 Quote:
WASHINGTON (Map, News) - Sandy Berger, who stole highly classified terrorism documents from the National Archives, destroyed them and lied to investigators, is now an adviser to presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton. Berger, who was fired from John Kerry’s presidential campaign when the scandal broke in 2004, has assumed a similar role in Clinton’s campaign, even though his security clearance has been suspended until September 2008. This is raising eyebrows even among Clinton’s admirers. “It shows poor judgment and a lack of regard for Berger’s serious misdeeds,” said law professor Jonathan Adler of Case Western Reserve University, who nonetheless called Clinton “by far the most impressive candidate in the Democratic field.”

Another sterling example of what glittering jewels of ignorance the left routinely promotes. Thank you Hillary, for illustrating the kind of disrespect for your constituents that the right could NEVER even make up about you.

Enjoy voting Democrats.

The Berger thing turned out not to be true but I'll do you one better.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/10/08/AR2007100801817.html?hpid=topnews

"A small private intelligence company that monitors Islamic terrorist groups obtained a new Osama bin Laden video ahead of its official release last month, and around 10 a.m. on Sept. 7, it notified the Bush administration of its secret acquisition. It gave two senior officials access on the condition that the officials not reveal they had it until the al-Qaeda release.

Within 20 minutes, a range of intelligence agencies had begun downloading it from the company's Web site. By midafternoon that day, the video and a transcript of its audio track had been leaked from within the Bush administration to cable television news and broadcast worldwide. "

I am bored.

I don't understand FAP, what part of the Berger thing turned out to be untrue? And what does that have to do with your post about ObL?

You don't understand because you're myopic and not particularly well read. I mean it must be comforting to have all your news come from the conservative version of pravda. (PS before you get too confused pravda is not an expensive shoe)

I'm not your research assistant but if you can find a stoned chimpanzee to help you navigate the internets I think you'll find the premise of this story to be rather thin.

HC since you always a good laugh it's only fair I return the favor. Without further delay, from those wacky guys who used to be our bestest friends in the war on tukoise . . .

FAP, I'm just a caveman. I fell on some ice and later got thawed out by some of your scientists. Your world frightens and confuses me! Sometimes the honking horns of your traffic make me want to get out of my BMW.. and run off into the hills, or wherever.. Sometimes when I get a message on my fax machine, I wonder: "Did little demons get inside and type it?" I don't know! My primitive mind can't grasp these concepts.

HC, how do you feel about the warrant-less spying program that Bush wanted and the Democrats passed?

I was looking at this article:
http://www.nytimes.com/reuters/washingto...agewanted=print

I think it shows that the Democrats are for the program in general except for a few cosmetic changes (probably because they hope to get the same powers if they win the election in November). According to the article:

The House bill would enable the secret court created by the 1978 Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) to issue one-year "umbrella" approval to allow the government to intercept the phone calls and e-mails of foreign targets in the United States.

It would require a court approval when monitoring an American citizen in the United States, but only if that person is the target of an investigation. No order would be needed to listen in if the person happened to be communicating with a foreign target.

I think that's pretty decent considering that they can go get FISA approval after the fact. I do think this type of response, which has become status quo for the neoconservatives is pretty lame though (and this is what is divisive about politics in general):

U.S. Rep. Lamar Smith of Texas, ranking Republican on the committee, said, "Rather than responding to the urgent needs of our intelligence community, Democrats are giving unprecedented constitutional protections to terrorists, spies and other enemies overseas."

And before you do it....I don't mean a world without Cherry Pie

I don't have a problem with spying on suspected terrorists in foreign countries who are calling into the US.

It does scare me, because there's a possibility that in a couple years the President may be a woman who respects civil liberties enough to use FBI files to construct an illegal database of her enemies.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filegate

The possibility of her putting people like Sandy in charge of that type of information gathering tool scares me. Hopefully we'll never come to that day. But for today, we need to keep a close eye on those who would have Americans dead.

It's all you need to know about democrats, that they'd complain about civil liberties with this FISA issue, but turn a blind eye to Hilary's filegate.

What do you think HFC?
