anyone notice the "tax reform" bill ushered in yesterday in trenton? mcgreevey hiked nj taxes by 40%.

Which tax increases are you referring to? I saw that they proposed a 1.5 Billion tax hike on specific items, specifically HMOs, cigarettes, cosmetic surgeries, and tires.

Didn't see anything about a 40% increase in taxes.

They're adding an HMO tax? Isn't that just going to be passed on to the consumer/patient in a regressive manner?

I couldn't say. The article I read wasn't very detailed. There are ways to tax profits only. Not sure if they plan to do that or not.

If you tax profits the HMO has less money for investments and executive pay. To remedy this either the HMO will play accounting games to lower their "profits" or increase revenue so profits will remain at their previous level.

top personal income tax bracket rises from 6.37 to 8.97 in the top bracket. approx 40% hike. sheesh...

I heard that there's been a tax hike for people making over a 1/2 mil a year - as well as what Brian listed.

Since I make no where near that - yay. Who cares?
