rather and brokaw are out there claiming the press is giving too much coverage of former president Reagan's funeral. also, bill clinton and nancy pelosi whining that they weren't invited to make a speech at the service. hold on there, anyone remember senator paul wellstone's funeral? the other sitting minn senator (a republican) was booed off the podium by the democrats. even mondale said it was an embarrasing circus. if nancy chose who would be permitted to speak at her husband's funeral, and she chose not to invite these people, then they should have the respect and decency to keep their deplorable comments to themselves. these people, clinton especially, continue to show their colors at every turn. truly disgraceful.

Maybe Reagan didn't like Clinton? Maybe Reagan thought Clinton was an egocentric jackass?
It's so much easier doing a private funeral- if you don't want someone to speak, you don't let them in the door.

Who can say? Clinton took office in 92. Regan left public life, I believe, in '94. Who can say how together he was at the time and how well he kept up with politics.
I do think it's inappropriate to exclude any former president from speaking. Does anyone really think Clinton would slam Regan?
After all, sooner or later Clinton's time will come and how do you think he wants people to speak about him at his memorial?

I don't think Clinton would slam Reagan at all...I'm sure he'd be quite eloquent. But, if it is up to Nancy, then I think you have to respect who she does and doesn't invite. I could be wrong, but I don't see her trying to make this into any type of political statement by not inviting him.
