WHY: To demonstrate against recent 47 per cent tax hike

The newly formed Hoboken Tax Reform Coalition has organized a rally on Wednesday, December 17th, starting at 6:00 PM to be followed by speaker presentations on the steps of City Hall at 6:30 PM. The protest is timed to preceded the City Council meeting in City Hall at 7:00 PM. The speaker presentations will announce the organization's mission, future action steps and will include comments from a variety of concerned citizens.

The Hoboken Tax Reform Coalition, a community-based group, formed in response to the recent property tax hike of 47 per cent. The group, made up of a broad spectrum of citizens from across the city, has organized to express broad dissatisfaction with high taxes, the misuse of funds and the waste that has resulted in the unprecedented increase. The Hoboken Tax Coalition intends to put pressure on city government to prompt fiscal accountability, a reduced budget going forward and a fair allocation of property taxes among all property owners.
