"Scary Stories" at Sybil's Cave with The Theater Company Leave the kids at home this Halloween Night!

October 14, 2009: The Theater Company (TTC) is kicking off its new season with a spirited evening of ghosts and spooky mayhem this Halloween with "Scary Stories on the Waterfront." In conjunction with the Hoboken Historical Museum, TTC will be presenting candlelight ghost stories outside of Sybil's Cave (Frank Sinatra Drive, Hoboken).

Producing Artistic Director David Zimmerman notes, “The stories will be based on various ghost stories from different cities, but we are taking special care to include Sybil's Cave and some of the stories that surround that location." Sybil's Cave, which was reopened on October 22, 2008, was once a well-known tourist spot. In the mid-19th century, New Yorkers would come to Hoboken to drink water from the cave, which was believed to have therapeutic properties. The cave is said to be the inspiration for Edgar Allen Poe's "The Mystery of Marie Roget," based on the real unsolved murder of Mary Rogers. So, peer into the past as you look into the cave and let your imagination run wild with the stories that still haunt there!
