Hoboken, NJ: For the fourth installment of the Library Concert Series, DeBaun Center for Performing Arts, in association with the Dieckow School of Music, is proud to present a Piano Concert on Friday, November 21, 2008 at 8 p.m. in the Great Hall of the Samuel C. Williams Library, on the campus of Stevens Institute of Technology, in Hoboken, NJ.

The concert will feature advanced piano students of Phillip Dieckow, Artist-In-Residence at DeBaun Center for Performing Arts and founder of the Dieckow School of Music. Mr. Dieckow, world-renowned pianist and teacher, founded the Dieckow School of Music in Hoboken and Jersey City in 1990. A prominent resident of Hoboken, his influence is felt in all aspects of the community. Born in San Antonio, Texas, like his contemporary and fellow Texan, the pianist Van Cliburn, Mr. Dieckow has become heir to the great 20th century examples of both the Russian and German schools of performance, yet his style is uniquely his own. Following his pre-college study with Karl Leifheit, Mr. Dieckow worked with Dalies Frantz, a student of both the great German pianist Artur Schnabel and Vladimir Horowitz, Olga Stroumillo, the assistant to Horowitz and the celebrated teacher and composer Harold Zabrack. Mr. Dieckow currently coaches with his long-time friend and mentor Dr. Ana Maria Trenchi de Bottazzi. Mr. Dieckow holds both a Bachelor and Master's degree in Piano Performance from Webster University and Eastern New Mexico University. Closely connected to the Moscow Gnessins Musical Institute, Mr. Dieckow has instituted both Soviet-American and Russian-American Youth Festivals of Music here in New Jersey. He is represented by students on concert stages and in major conservatories throughout the world.

The performing students include Nicholas Capalbo, Joel Condon, Anne Dutreuil, John Hite, Allyson Mackavage and Frank Riccobono. The evening will be filled with music from composers, such as Mozart, Chopin, Saint-Saens, Debussy, and Lecuona, and will include duets as well as solo pieces. This is one of two concerts given each year by the advanced students of Phillip Dieckow. The next concert will be in the Spring.

Admission for the concert is free, with a $5 suggested donation, and refreshments will be served.
