The City of Hoboken is proud to announce the 27th Annual Hoboken Artists Studio Tour. Even though there are 40 sites on the tour, we have designed the tour so that you can walk from one studio or exhibition to the next or take the free shuttle bus, which will be conveniently stopping at 6 or 7 locations around the mile-square city, including City Hall, the PATH station, the Neumann Leather Building, Hoboken Historical Museum and 720 Monroe Street Arts Center. Tour maps and guides will be available on the day of the tour at City Hall, 94 Washington St. between 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM. or pick one up in advance as an insert in the Hoboken Reporter and Hudson Current Newspapers the week before.
As diverse as the art itself, the tour's popularity draws artists from far beyond the banks of Hoboken. From the shores of international waters to our own metropolitan area, you will find over 100 artists and art forms representing an exciting variety of media and design. Visitors will have a chance to meet the artists, photographers, sculptors and artisans in their own studios, where they can witness the creative process at work.
Mediums range from classical figurative realism and abstract expressionism to welded steel sculptures and photographic computer generated mandalas; oil paintings, watercolors and acylics; pottery, quilts and paintings on silk. Some of the featured artists this year include: Tim Daly (lyrical realistic landscapes), Carlos Page (metal sculture & furniture) and Frank Hanavan (acrylic painter - best known for beautiful landscapes of Hoboken) and much more.
This year we are happy to welcome the support of Larry Bijou & Bijou Properties. Bijou Properties has launched a campaign to fund the arts in Hoboken. Larry believe's that the arts community is among one of the key elements that helped change the course of Hoboken's history. It was a primary reason for it's Renaissance. Larry believes that the arts must be sustained in Hoboken, ergo his sponsorship of the HAST and other events this season.
This exhibit as well as The Hoboken Artists Studio Tour is made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the the Arts, administered by the Hudson County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs/Tourism Development and by the County of Hudson, Thomas A. DeGise, County Executive, and the Board of Chosen Freeholders.
We recommend public transportation. Hoboken is accessible by PATH, NJ Transit Trains & Buses, Hudson Bergen Lightrail and NY Waterway Ferries.
