Who Are We?

The Environment Committee of Hoboken is the volunteer environmental organization of Hoboken, New Jersey. For over 25 years it has fostered community spirit and encouraged citizen participation in projects to better Hoboken's environment.

Our immediate plans include:

Earth Day 1998
The Earth Day planting is here again! It will be held Saturday, April 25, 1998, 9:30am-12:30pm.

Hoboken Environmental Needs Assessment

During the past year, we have:

sponsored Hoboken's first Farmer's Market

has planted 90 trees at three of Hoboken’s gateways

met with Environmental Protection Agency about the Superfund Site at 722 Grand Street

planted and cleaned-up our adopted lot in Car Hell

successfully convinced the mayor and "pro-east" city council members to change their position to support the Western alignment, as a member of the Light Rail Task Force. This re-opened discussions with New Jersey Transit on the alignment issue

reviewed plans for the proposed development project along the Weehawken Cove

held two plant sales to help green Hoboken and raise funds.

We welcome your involvement and membership. As you can see, 1998 plans to be an exciting year for The Environment Committee of Hoboken. As always, we need YOU to continue our successes.
