Founded in 1992, Hudson Shakespeare Company continues striving toward bringing the classics and contemporary theater to a myriad of locations and venues in New Jersey and the greater Tri-State area. Through our programs, we seek to create innovative and comfortable atmospheres for all of our personnel, from on stage to back stage and provide broad cultural and artistic exposure and an overall inviting experience for our audiences. At the same time, we have prided ourselves on a long tradition of giving first time directors, actors and technicians their "first crack" in the theater.
The Hudson Theatre Ensemble formed in 1999 as a way for parents at the Hudson School to have a bit of fun. We did staged readings of various scripts. Soon, Ensemble members wanted to push the envelope and really perform the plays. That finally took place during 2000, with a production of Tennessee Williams’s Glass Menagerie that filled the house each night. And the rest is history! We have evolved into a professional community theatre company with a quality of production that receives resounding critical and audience acclaim.
