Welcome to the Hobokeni.com Classifieds How To / FAQ.
Hobokeni has greatly expanded the features as well as increased the security of our classified section. Many sections require an upfront fee but users can add a picture, link to outside sites, edit and manage ads 24 / 7 through a secure user account and select from 100’s of options to help classified users find your ads more easily all for FREE.
One of the most exciting features to note is the many options now available. Each Classified Category has many detailed descriptions that can be checked off during the ad placing process. These descriptions help to sub categorize ads allowing classified section users to search any aspect the ads. When an ad is selected by a user it is displayed as a full page including any photos, links and detailed content included in the ad.
If you are placing an ad such as "Looking for a 2 Bedroom under $1500" you will be prompted to select options similar to placing a Rental or Sale Property. To the search database all ads can be both Standard (Rental, Sale, etc…) and Wanted (Looking For, etc…). When utilizing the search function users can select "Wanted" as criteria for results. You can select as many detailed options as you wish or as few as are required to place an ad. Some options are required to ensure proper placement of the final ad.

How do I edit my ad/ads?
When you place your ad you are also creating a permanent account. Just log-in and you can edit ads 24-7 seven days a week. Please be sure to continue to follow the guidelines for ads posted on Hobokeni or your ad may be edited by us or even removed.

When will my ad appear?
Ads appear immediately upon the completion of all necessary fields and after required payment has been made.

How long will my ad be active?
Classifieds are active for 14 days upon activation. When placing an ad you can slect "Run my ad longer" as an option which allows the user to add weeks to the deactivation date. This option does carry an extra fee.

What forms of payment do you accept??
We accept credit card payment from American Express (AmEx), Master Card, and Visa. We will also accept checks but your ad WILL NOT appear until the check clears (usually 5 business days).

How do I search for ads?
There are two options when searching:
Advanced Search
Our Advanced Search allows you to execute a detailed search against the titles and descriptions of all ads in the market. You may narrow your results by distance, item condition, category and a host of other parameters.
Quick Search Box:
In the upper left corner of all shopping pages, there is a "Quick Search" box which permits you to quickly search all of the titles of the items you seek. You can optionally limit the search to the category you are in at the time you search. If you wish to search against the ad titles and descriptions, use the advanced search by clicking the "Advanced Search" link below the quick search input box.

Step-By-Step:
The foloowing is an example of how to place an "Apartment For Rent " ad in the Real Estate section. This is one of the most common ads placed on our site and the process for placing ads is very similar to the other Classified Categories. This section is titled - Choose A Category
Required Fields are marked with - *
You can either choose:
"New Ad"
or
"Resume Unfinished Listing"
If you choose "Resume Unfinished Listing" you will be directed to log into your account and select an ad that needs to be completed or edited.
Type of ad: * "Wanted" or "Standard"
Wanted – A Wanted ad will prompt you to select the same descriptions as a Standard ad.
When searching the classifieds users select criteria to best locate desired features and situations. Wanted ads live in the category they are most closely related to; i.e. "Looking For Share" would be in:
MAIN CATEGORY:
"Real Estate Rental & Sale"
SUB CATEGORY:
"Roommates"
Ad Category: * Choose from 100's of available categories from the drop down. As you choose a category you will be offered Sub Categories. These Sub-Categories will assure that your ad is easily found through the search function.
Seller status: * Private or Commercial
VERY IMPORTANT (If your ad offers a service, seeks employees or if you or your company acquire, distribute or manufacture items for resale for whatever reason, you must select "Commercial" and your ads will be marked: "ProSeller". Ads posted in violation of this rule will be either removed without further notice or converted to commercial-marked ads and the applicable insertion fee will be assessed.)
Ad Title: * Choose a short ttle that best describes the property. You can go into details in the content section.
Subtitle: Will appear in the content section but is viewable when users mouse over your ad in the listings section. This description should aslo be short. i.e. "6th & Adams in the Heart of The Mile Square"
Country: - List the location of the property.
State/Province: - Location of the property.
Postal Code The appropriate code for the listing
Property Area - Popular name for locale. i.e. - "The Mile Square City"

Here you will be able to choose from lists of Amenities, Community Extras, Laundry and Pets

Type your properties description and ad some stylized characters including heading sized type faces, bold, color and many more options.

This section allows users to add extra photos as well as features to make ads standout in the individual sections as well as be featured ads on the Classifieds home page. These upgrades all carry additional fees.

Users can preview their ad and make needed edits.
VERY IMPORTANT You must agree to the terms and conditions of the Member Agreement or your ad will not be published.
The final step is to click Publish This Ad >> and your ad will be added to the Classified Listings and available to be searched by site users.
